How to export your contacts out of a 3rd party tool and into Connect

It is easy to import your existing contacts into Connect! If you are are using a 3rd party communication tool (e.g. Flocknote or MailChimp) you will first need to export your contacts from that system. Once that is done, you can follow these steps to import your contacts into Connect.


Below are instructions on how to export from common 3rd party platforms. If your current communication tool is not listed below and you need help exporting your contacts feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] and we would be happy to see what we can do to help you start that proces.

How to export members from Flocknote:

  1. Log into your Flocknote account
  2. Select the Group from the list of groups in the left-hand column that you wish to export members from.
  3. Click on the 'People' tab at the top of that Group's page.
  4. Click the 'Export' button at the top right of your list of members.
  5. A spreadsheet containing those members will be downloaded to your computer.
  6. Be sure to format this new spreadsheet to include these 4 columns, in this exact order:
    1. First Name
    2. Last Name
    3. Email
    4. Phone (optional)
  7. If there is other data on your spreadsheet it can be deleted
  8. You can now follow these steps to import your contacts into Connect!

How to export members from MailChimp


  1. Log in to your Mailchimp account. 
  2. Click Audience. If you have more than one, you can click Current Audience and then select the one you'd like to export from the dropdown.
  3. Click View Contacts.
  4. Click Export Audience
  5. Once there, click the Export As CSV button. You can then open this .csv file in Excel.
  6. Be sure to format this new spreadsheet to include these 4 columns, in this exact order:
    1. First Name
    2. Last Name
    3. Email
    4. Phone (optional)
  7. If there is other data on your spreadsheet it can be deleted
  8. You can now follow these steps to import your contacts into Connect!
  9. Repeat, as needed, for each individual audience.
